The Union of Jurists of Romania, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice,
the Superior Council of Magistrates, the Association of Romanian Magistrates and
the Legal Research Institute “Acad. Andrei Rdulescu” of the Romanian Academy
have celebrated om June 24th the AnnualDay of Justice” symposium, having as
general theme “Guaranteeing and defending the fundamental values of the society
by means of law”. The event hosted as well the launch of the volume “The
Romanian Constitution. Title I. General principles, articles 1-14. Comments and
explications”, by professor Cristian Ionescu.
The opening speech was held by dr. Ioan Chelaru, president of the Union of
Jurists of Romania. Official messages have been presented by Marius Tudose – the
president of the Superior Council of Magistrates, Liviu Stancu – state secretary in
the Ministry of Justice. Speeches have been held by: Gheorghe Florea – president
of the National Union of Bar Associations of Romania, Gabriela Baltag – president
of the Association of Romanian Magistrates, professor Corina Dumitrescu – rector
of the „Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Bucharest, Andreea Uzlu – deputy
director of the Legal, Documenting and Litigation Direction of the Superior
Council of Magistrates, Augustin Lazr – general attorney, the Department of Alba
Prosecutor’s Office, Mircea Duu – director of the Legal Research Institute and
vice-president of the Union of Jurists of Romania, Ovidiu Predescu – director of
the “Dreptul” publishing house and vice-president of the Union Of Jurists of
Romania.
Between the 5th and the 11th of July 2015, in Lpuşna, Mureş Department, was
held the 8th edition of the International Law School. The works had as theme the
issue of “Public security vs. individual liberty”. The present edition was organized
by the “Petru Maior” University of Târgu Mureş and the Romanian Society for
Research in Public and Private Affairs.
This session of the International Law School had as guest numerous students,
both from Romanian and foreign universities, such as the “Petru Maior”
University of Târgu Mureş, the “Babeş – Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca, the
University of Piteşti, the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi, the State
University of Moldova, Universitate degli Studi Internazionali di Roma” etc.

Professor Ovidiu Predescu, director of the “Dreptul” publishing and
vice-president of the Union Of Jurists of Romania, has presided of the section
dedicated to “Legal order and the role of the dissemination vectors” and held a
lecture on “Contemporary law and its aspects in the context of globalization or
mondialisation”. The same section hosted lectures by associate professor Mihaela
Tomi (Universitatea de Vest, Timişoara); associate professor Ioan Lazr („1
Decembrie 1918” University of Alba Iulia) and Nicolae Cîrstea, president of the
„Universul Juridic” publishing house of Bucharest.
On September 4th 2015, under the high patronage of the Union of Jurists of
Romania, the Legal Research Institute “Acad. Andrei Rdulescu” of the Romanian
Academy and the Romanian Society of Criminology and Forensics (RSCF) have
held the conference with international participation entitled “Criminology in
Romania – past, present and future”, event that marked the 25th anniversary of the
RSCF.
The opening of the conference was mark by speeches by professor Rodica
Stnoiu, president of the Romanian Society of Criminology and Forensics,
professor Mircea Duu – director of the Legal Research Institute, professor André
Lemaître – president of the International Association of Francophone
Criminologists, professor Ovidiu Predescu – vice-president of the Union of Jurists
of Romania, and Nora Fraj-Bouslimani – attorney to the Paris Court of Appeals.
On September 23rd, 2015, the National Institute of Magistrates (NIM) held an
international conference entitled “Inter-professional dialogue between judges,
attorneys and barristers – a necessity in the consolidation of Justice in the
Romanian democratic society”.
Introductory speeches have been held by Jud. Marius Tudose – president of
the Superior Council of Magistrates; Rodica Aida Popa – Romanian representative
at the Consultative Council of European Judges; Jud. Nina Betteto – member of the
board of the Consultative Council of European Judges, vice-president of the
Supreme Court of Slovenia; jud. Livia Doina Stanciu, president of the High Court
of Cassation and Justice of Romania; Robert Cazanciuc, Minister of Justice (in
office); Tiberiu Niu – Romanian general prosecutor; Gheorghe Florea, president
of the National Union of Bar Associations of Romania, Jud. Octavia Spineanu
Matei, director of the National Institute of Magistrates.
The Union of Jurists of Romanian has been aptly represented by dr. Ioan
Chelaru – president, and professor Ovidiu Predescu, vice-president and director of
the “Dreptul” publishing house.
On 30-31 October 2015, the Legal Research Institute “Acad. Andrei Rdulescu”
of the Romanian Academy, as supported by the Romanian National Authority for
Scientific Research, CNCS - UEFISCDI, project number PN-II-RU-TE-2012-3-0412,

held the international conference entitled “German Influences upon the Romanian
Law. A Comparative Approach”. The works focused on the impact of German
legislation on Romanian private and public law, on the one hand, and on the
influence held by the German specificities of law over global legal systems, of
Common or Private Law, on the other hand.
Presided by professor Tudor Avrigeanu of the Legal Research Institute, the
conference provided lectures, among other Romanian specialists, by: dr. Benjamin
Vogel, Senior Researcher, Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International
Criminal Law, Freiburg (Germany); Dr. Teresa Manso Porto Senior Researcher,
Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, Freiburg
(Germany), Dr. Tsvetana Kamenova, Professor of International Law, University of
Plovdiv, Director of the Institute for Legal Studies, Bulgarian Academy of Science,
Sofia (Bulgaria); Dr. Juan Carlos Gemignani, Professor of Criminal Law,
University of Buenos Aires, Vice-President of the Federal Court of Criminal
Cassation, Buenos Aires (Argentina).
